Simply Stripes

Shirt: Forever 21 | Jeans: Old Navy | Belt: Target | Necklaces: Macy, Etsy (Gifted by Vicki), H&M | Boots: Forever 21 | Glasses: Warby Parker, Tenley

I've been very drawn to stripes lately, and recently, my shop-a-holic self went and searched solely for striped shirts. Surprisingly it's not that easy. I mean the wrong striped shirt can turn you into a costumed mime, or cause perceptional widening, both equally unflattering (and funny).

I've been wearing my glasses almost every day for the past couple months and am starting to believe that I'd like another pair of Warby Parkers - now it's just a matter of which ones!

Do you have a pair of frames you love from Warby Parker? OR have had a great experience with a different vendor you'd like to recommend (like Bonlook, or Lookmatic?)

If so, I'd love to hear from you!

You Are What Your Bag Eats

Spin Pins - best invention for buns to stay put (hun) | Vaseline Lip Therapy - simply the best moisturizing lip product in my book
LePen(s) - My favorite fine tip markers | Sour Patch Kids - I have a sugar problem, lets be real here
The Markings Notebook - my favorite notebook because of how sleek and simple it is | Comb - for the bangs, duh

So, if I am what my [work] bag eats, then that makes me a walking office. A walking office that desperately needs a shoulder massage because of the amount of mobile hoarding I'm doing.

My job requires me to schlep around a number of things besides my own purse and tools to keep me connected, so I have to really put thought into what items I can bring and what purse to use. It also doesn't help that I'm already a hoarder. You know, big girl problems.

I really can't complain though, because I love my job and I'm pretty sure I've got trapezius muscles of steel!
Yep, made a totally uneducated guess on that.

On that note, I've been thinking about purchasing a nice bag that I can carry for formal meetings and events for work. I won't be foolish enough to carry my laptop in one of them (maybe), but definitely want it to fit the iPad and all my other goodies. Here are some of my favorite (and also out of my budget) handbags from Kate Spade New York:

I've got a bit of a hankering to purchase a backpack - so I'm loving the Allen Street Britain for being great on the back as well as stylish on the arm.

What's your favorite bag for work?

Warm Winter Weekend

Blouse: Charlotte Russe | Pants: Zara | Necklace: Francesca's | Bracelets: Gorjana, H&M | Purse: Forever 21 | Belt: Cotton On | Sandals: Old Navy | Glasses: Warby Parker, Tenley

It was like the Southern California sun couldn't help but make a quick warm appearance this weekend, and so did my toes! It was a nice weekend to explore, so we spent some time in Downtown LA at the MOCA, Grand Central Market (got the best tacos there!), and Spring Street Bar to try some of the 26 beers on tap.

I'm happy it came by, but am more happy that the rain will be here soon, so that I'll get to cozy back up with my hoarded cans of [seasonal] Salted Caramel Chai Tea Latte Mix from Trader Joes, and enjoy what's left of the Winter season :)

Fashion | Lady Gaga's Born This Way Ball

I had the pleasure of going to Lady Gaga's Born This Way Ball that came to the Staples Center this weekend and still cannot get over how talented and absolutely entertaining Lady Gaga is.

She is an absolute product of hard work and pure talent as she brought the audience of thousands through a birth to death story line while making stops at her most focused political and social issues, and loving and inspiring her fans through encouraging monologues.

She was infinitely more vibrant and powerful live - while running, jumping, dancing, and booty popping all over a humongous rotating medieval style castle set.

I am still in awe of her amazing performance and hope to see her again!

Here are my photos from the night. I screamed, jumped, danced and took lots and lots of videos - which I won't be able to show you because of her profanities and the fact that you can hear me singing back up :)

I wore// Vest: Skaist-Taylor for Target | Long Sleeve & High Waisted Shorts: Forever 21 | Tights: Target
Boots: Chinese Laundry

So, on to what we're really excited to talk about.

Lady Gaga has been the epitome of unoriginality and has made no impact on the fashion industry… says NO ONE.

Pine Cones and a Puppy

Before this past 80 degree weekend in Southern California,  I had been living in pants, boots, and my grandma knits everyday. I felt particularly flirty on this day and knew that I wanted to wear my blush maxi skirt (which I normally pair with a tank and a cardigan) without freezing my toesies off. That's when I decided that I wouldn't have to sacrifice one for the other, and threw on a chunky sweater.

I've also been in a weird place with my hair. Not wanting to go back to the blunt bang (circa 2008-2011), or the side swept bang (circa forever ago-2008), my stylist and I decided that I'd try the middle part. In my past post, I attempted the middle part  - which I STILL can't get used to. (My friends and I call it the Kardashian part), so pushing it a little off center has made it more manageable for me to look in the mirror without laughing.

Bear with me as I figure it out.

Also making an appearance is my crazy puppy (who is really an adult dog at this point), Snoopy! He is a corgi and golden retriever mix, and I love him to pieces. You can find daily doses of him and his quirky personality on my instagram, @electriceunice

Isn't he a handsome little guy?

Happy Martin Luther King Day and have a great long weekend! :)

1/2 Marathon Training

Running is absolutely not natural to me. I never ran track in high school, or saw the road as an opportunity for some footwork. Up until recently, I even believed that I enjoyed running on a treadmill more than I did outside. (Gasp!)

Well it became clear to me why - simply because when you run outside you actually have to carry the weight of your own body (I know, so dramatic).

Late last year, some friends and I decided to sign up for the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon taking place in Pasadena on February 17th. I knew it would be a great opportunity to get exercise and more importantly set a goal for myself that I never thought I'd attempt to achieve. (Let's be real here, I was the girl at the end of the track finishing a 15 minute mile in junior high.)

I started running outside and after a couple runs of wondering what the hell I was thinking, I actually started to see the beauty of running and the world slowly becoming my own track. There's something about feeling the wind against you as you run, and seeing the world from the street's view.

While running, I realized that I was catching so many personal moments of others; like an elderly woman running towards a bus leaving a stop, clips of conversations between diners sitting outside, drivers rocking it out in their cars, and of course other runners and bikers whizzing by (which, I'm contemplating to start giving high fives to - is that okay, or creepy?).

Overall the experience is ironically peaceful. Almost like watching my very own movie with moments I'm only getting glimpses of and set to the soundtrack of whatever is playing through my pandora. All these experiences and more make me so happy that I signed up for this marathon.

We are about 5 weeks away from the marathon and I am working to hit 10 miles over the next week. I'm excited and scared at the same time - I'm not running as frequently as I should, but all I can do now, is work hard over the next couple weeks to reach 13 miles by February 17th!

I'm following this plan:

I'd love to hear any tips or training plans that anyone has used for their first marathon! :)

Don't forget to add me to your reading list!  :)

Special Announcement | Introducing Vicki & Eunice: Friends Who Blog

Hi, Friends!

Vicki and I met shortly after college, and as we got to know each other, it became more and more ironic that we weren't friends in college. We had mutual friends, shared interests in arts and crafts, fashion, food, business and an intense love for frozen yogurt and soon, we'd find out much, much more!

Living together for two years, and now separated by about 50 miles, Vicki and I miss our adventures together, and have been brewing over collaborating to provide the best content to our readers and of course - make many more great memories!

Vicki, whom I admire, is my dear friend, and I absolutely adore her blog where she provides tips and tricks on everything in life as well as fashion styling and more. Find her at www.victorycarmichael.com

With that said, Vicki and I are excited to announce our initiative to keep our readers and friends updated through our collaborative Facebook page: www.facebook.com/vickiandeuniceblog!

Please "like" and share our Facebook page with friends and family as we will be utilizing it to share news, updates, photos, upcoming events, and best of all - fun giveaways.

Our first giveaway begins once we hit 100 "likes", at which time, we will choose a winner at random out of those who have liked us and award them with a $50 Target gift card!

With no need for an introduction, Target is one of Vicki and I's favorite stores. It is uncanny how Target has evolved over the years into a leading retailer for high fashion collaborations, providing national exposure to small businesses, and being a one stop shop store for everything you need.

Please visit our facebook page - vicki & eunice: friends who blog, like us, and make sure to leave a comment on my page so I can personally thank you and check out your blog as well! :)

xoxo,

Eunice
